After reading this guide, you will be able to learn how to hide your online status with Facebook Messenger. This information will help you perform this task with Android phones, iPhones and PCs.
Hello and welcome. Here’s Frankie again with some helpful tips and tricks to help you master the technique you use every day. Today I want to show you how to deactivate your active Facebook status and disappear (or become a ghost).
With a few simple steps and actions you can appear offline in Messenger.
With the method I developed, no one can know if you were even online in Messenger, when you were last online, whether or not you read the messages you sent.
You can use a method to get ghosted in Facebook Messenger like Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
I don’t know what I’m talking about, don’t worry, I can explain.
Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was one of the most famous and iconic ghosts in the Ghostbusters movie. It was a giant white creature made of marshmallow and dressed like a sailor. He was the mascot of a company that grew to the size of a skyscraper in the film. I’m sure you remember. Chances are, you won’t forget.
As a kid, I was beyond obsessed with Ghostbusters. So I continue to draw inspiration from these memorable minds and incorporate them into the names of methods I develop for technical tasks:
I know, I know. The marshmallow man’s method is a bit wonky. I will work on a shorter title as soon as possible.
The two main reasons you should read this manual are:
- You have something to hide from someone. Whatever dirty business you’re involved in, you need to stay in the shadows.
- You live your own life and you don’t need everyone knowing what you do all the time.
In any case, you can use the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man method as a last resort. It is divided into several parts (easy to digest).
- Become invisible in Facebook Messenger
- Hide your status in Facebook chats
- Hides information about the messenger’s last view.
- Deactivate read documents
And there are other little tricks you can use to really become a ghost.
With Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, no one needs to know what you’re doing on Messenger. There are several spyware programs, such as. B. mSpy, which allows you to read Messenger interactions. If you have this level of dysfunction in your system, not even God can save you.
Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Method: 3 steps to becoming invisible on Facebook and Messenger
Unlike many other chat rooms, including WhatsApp’s, Messenger has a feature that allows users to appear offline to all contacts or just a selection of them. While this may contribute to the invisibility process, it is not sufficient for complete invisibility. You should always hide important secondary information, such as. B. the last time you logged on.
There’s one thing you need to know before you go any further: Facebook Chat and Facebook Messenger are related, but are not the same service.
Messenger is a behemoth that lets you make video calls, send voice notes, and communicate with people who aren’t necessarily your Facebook friends. In fact, you don’t even need a Facebook account to use Messenger.
The chat feature offers much less functionality and only allows you to chat with people already identified as your friends, and only works if you have a Facebook account.
Because the two services are synchronized, any messages you exchange in Messenger can also be viewed in Facebook Chat.
Whether you have an iPhone or an Android device, if you follow the steps I’ll share with you, you can become completely invisible in Messenger and Facebook chat.
So, let’s go!
1. Disable active status in Facebook Messenger
Logically, the first step to becoming a ghost is to remove the ads that appear when you’re online or offline in Messenger.
The process is very simple – it works the same way for both iPhone and Android devices.
- Open Facebook Messenger
- Click on your profile icon
- Find the Active Status option and set it to OFF.
In this step, you can disappear from your active contacts. From now on, no one can see when you’re online. Disabling this feature is a sacrifice, however, as you will no longer be able to see when another person is online.
Again, take the time to take the flag out of this option. This hides the time when you last accessed the application. This will further accelerate your complete transformation in spirit.
Another important note is that you must disable this setting on ANY device you use Messenger on.
You should take a moment to read the full instructions on how to hide your last active status on Facebook Messenger.
This is only the first step in the Stay Puft marshmallow man method. So far, you’ve only disabled your active status in Messenger. When you sign up for Facebook, you present yourself online. Let’s make you invisible in Facebook chat.
2. Appearing offline in Facebook chat
The next step in turning into a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is becoming invisible in Facebook chats.
This process is quite simple and can be done in the same way as for a computer or Mac.
- Open Facebook on your PC or Mac
- Click Settings, the gray cog icon in the lower right corner of the screen, in the chat bar.
- Select Disable active state (third from bottom).
One of the interesting features of this feature is that you can choose to delete the active status of all contacts or just some or a selection of contacts. Choose the option that suits you best and then confirm by clicking OK to remove your active status.
If you choose the first option, you will not be visible to other Internet users.
If you choose the second option, you hide your status from most people, but only from a few.
The third option is similar to the second, but you choose which contacts you want to prevent from seeing your online status.
It is important to note that you will not see who is online after that. At this stage, you also deactivate the timestamp of the last access.
Little by little you are becoming the ghost I said you would be. Let’s get this straight – now you’ve disabled active status in Messenger, and now you’ve disabled active status in Facebook chats. Second, we must avoid confirmation lectures in conversations.
3. Delete read confirmation messages
You are well prepared for the transformation process – so don’t stop now.
There is, however, a small problem. Unfortunately, there are no settings in Messenger and Chat to hide the confirmation that you have seen and read the message in the conversation.
Don’t worry because I have 3 solutions that will help you not reveal that you have received or read the messages sent.
But before that happens, you need to understand how confirmations work for Messenger and Facebook in general:
- White marker: The message is delivered.
- White mark with blue checkmark: Message delivered.
- Blue checkmark with white mark: Message received.
- Highlight the profile picture of the user: Read the message.
You should take a moment to read the full guide on Messenger Tap: Understand the meaning of Facebook Messenger icons.
Do you understand a bit more? That’s it. Let’s move on to the solutions.
a. Reading push messages
The most direct and easiest way to bypass receipts on your service is to read new incoming messages via the push notifications that appear in your mobile device’s banner.
iPhones can only display 162 characters in this sample setting, so if you receive a long message, you won’t be able to see it in its entirety.
b. Set the flight mode to display messages
Once airplane mode is enabled on your phone, you can open Messenger and read any messages you receive without changing the status of those messages. It is extremely important that you close Messenger completely before disabling airplane mode.
When you close the application, don’t just go to the home screen. Close it via the multitasking window so that it is completely closed and no longer running in the background.
v. Invisible Chrome extension (Facebook on PC or Mac)
It’s much harder to hide acknowledgements in Messenger or Facebook chats on a PC or Mac than on a smartphone. Apparently there are no push notifications to read, and airplane mode doesn’t exist and doesn’t take you where you want to go.
Fortunately, there is a Google Chrome extension called Invisible. This can block read alerts and all message status indicators.
I won’t bore you with all the technical details of how it works, but I can point you to a short YouTube video that I think describes it very well:
I have no idea why Facebook or Messenger haven’t come up with a solution to remove confirmations completely, like WhatsApp or iMessage. Whatever the cause, these 3 methods may one day save your ass.
CONGRATULATIONS! You have successfully completed your transformation and are as much a spirit in these services as the Stay Puft marshmallow man.
Ghost hunter method – Catching ghosts with a messenger
So, tell me, my friend, how does it feel to be a ghost? Now no one knows when you’re online, when you read your posts, when you last logged in – that’s a nice feeling, right?
But as Stay Puft Marshmallow Man learned, for every ghost, there’s a Ghostbuster out to get you.
Unfortunately for you, tracking your movements and activities through your phone is easier than you think. Seriously, though. The small amount of software installed on your device is enough to make Peter, Egon, Ray and Winston green with envy. If you don’t recognize these names – seriously, watch the movie.
If someone really wants to know what you do on your phone, they can do it with programs like mSpy.
I have described three steps you can take to hide your online status on Facebook and make yourself invisible.
If you follow the three steps I’ve listed here for the Stay Puft marshmallow man method, you can achieve this. You need to follow these steps for both Facebook Chat and Messenger, as they are related but separate Facebook components.
You can start by posting your status offline in Messenger, and then chat from your computer or Mac. Finally, delete the bookmarks of all your cats.
I’ve talked a bit about the Ghostbuster method, which allows someone to see what you’re doing on your phone through Messenger, Chat and hundreds of other possible apps.
I am constantly working on solutions to protect and secure your privacy. Come back regularly to discover new information that will be useful to you.
Before I dismiss you, I should tell you that if you want to keep the contents (and your activities) of your smartphone secret from prying eyes, you should read my article on advanced spying techniques to spy on your phone – and how to protect yourself.
Do you have any questions or concerns? I can help you. Leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you. Also, take the time to follow me on other platforms like YouTube for tutorials and video clips, my Facebook page, or the Pinterest profile we’ve created.
I’ll give you a big hug,
P.S. There are other features and tricks for the messenger. Try them to become a real master messenger.
